LANSING - Seth McCumby's tip-in with 1.9 seconds left completed a second-half comeback as Perry squeezed past Lansing Eastern, 60-58, Tuesday night.

McCumby's rebound put-back off a missed Jordan Sipkovsky shot capped a 37-27 run in the second half and ended the Ramblers' regular season on a high note.

The Quakers had tied the score with approximately 30 seconds left.

Perry, which had lost four of its last five games prior to Tuesday, had trailed 31-23 at halftime.

McCumby, a 6-foot-2 senior forward, finished the night with eight points - none bigger than his final two.

“He loves to play football but he's done a good job for us in basketball,” said Perry coach Greg Hebden. “He had a great game for us and he's playing with a lot of confidence right now.”

All seven of Perry's 3 pointers were scored by the brothers Sipkovsky.

Senior Jordan Sipkovsky contributed 17 points in the win with three 3-pointers while his younger brother, sophomore Nate Sipkovsky, had 12 points with four “triples.” Senior 6-5 center Dennis Meaney added 12 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.

“The most important thing tonight was not whether we won or lost,” said Hebden. “The most important thing was that the kids got back on track playing hard. We had taken some time off.”

The Ramblers delivered runs of 19-14 and 18-13 in the final two periods, respectively, and will take a 13-7 record into next week's Class B districts.

Eastern fell to 8-11 despite Willie Brown's 11 points and Dominiquie Vaughn's 10 markers.

Perry's Pete Baumgartner and Cody Metcalf scored six and five points, respectively.
