SportsOrioles front-liners named to SMAA volleyball teamBy The Argus-PressMorrice standouts Tasha Stambaugh and Ashley Rothney were terrors for opposing teams' back rows all season.
Their efforts were recently rewarded as both were named to the 2006-07 Southern Michigan Athletic Association first team. Joining Rothney and Stambaugh on the first team were Heather Barnett and Megan Barnett from Dansville, as well as Lansing Christian's Jody Start and Alyssa Hansen. Stambaugh was the team leader in kills, blocks and aces. She tallied 392 kills (3.5 per game), 88 blocks and 106 aces. Rothney trailed Stambaugh in kills with 331 and blocks with 49. She was the best server on the squad at just over 90 percent and was second in digs with 408. Hannah Rothney and Heather Lowery represented the Orioles on the SMAA second team. Rothney had 427 digs while Lowery tallied 324 assists. Also making the second team were Amy Granger and Ashlee Klauka from Lansing Christian, Taylor Putnam from Dansville and Webberville's Kristen Maleitzke. |
