McAvoy on sick leave

Officials confirmed this week that Shiawassee County Administrator Margaret McAvoy is on sick leave for an undetermined amount of time.
McAvoy has been on sick leave for several weeks with an undisclosed illness and it is not known when she will return.
Adminstrative Assistant Julie Considine said questions regarding county business should be directed to the Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners.
Board Vice Chairman Jaime Pavlica declined to comment. Messages were exchanged back and forth with Chairperson Henrietta Sparks, but she could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Last July the Board of Commissioners approved a three-year contract for McAvoy, which gave her the title of County Administrator and brought her pay level to $71,503 per year - an increase from her salary of $64,942 with her first contract two years earlier.
The change in her contract also brought a new title of county administrator from the former county coordinator.
