Fourth of July fireworks will light up the Shiawassee skies Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Patriotic displays capping a holiday weekend of fun, food and games are scheduled in Chesaning, Corunna and Byron.

Red, white and blue explosions celebrating America's 232nd birthday will begin Thursday night at Showboat Park in Chesaning.

Admission to Showboat Park, located off South Front Street, is free for Chesaning's Fourth of July fireworks...on July 3. Activities are planned for 5-10 p.m.

“Come early and enjoy a picnic in the park with local restaurants offering a variety of food items,” reads one Chesaning Web site. “Enjoy an evening with family and friends along the Shiawassee River.”

America's Independence Day will be celebrated on the 4th of July - Friday - in Corunna.

Fireworks sponsored by Meijer, The Independent and The Argus-Press will be launched at dusk from McCurdy Park, capping day-long Corunna Fourth of July Celebration activities ranging from a pancake breakfast, car and craft shows, horseshoe pitching, ice cream social, Firecracker Parade, hot air balloon launch and several kids games to belt sander races and firemen's waterball fights. Admission is free to most activities, including the fireworks.

Byron is delaying its 4th of July celebration until Saturday the 5th.

Byron's Family Fun Day Parade starts at 2 p.m. and will be inter-mixed with a kiddie tractor pull, craft show, 3-on-3 basketball, kids games in the park, concessions and an evening performance by the teen band “Drillbit.”

Free fireworks - thanks to the Byron Fireworks Friends - will brighten the U.S.A. skylines from Eagle Stadium adjacent to Byron High School, beginning at dusk.
