Krupp, Root, Putnam All-Staters

New Lothrop's Kayla Krupp and Ashley Root have been named first-team All-Staters in Division 4 by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association, while Laingsburg's Mickey Putnam has been selected All-State honorable mention in Division 3, it was recently announced
Krupp, a senior third baseman/shortstop, batted .508 while leading coach Eric Keck's Hornets to a 25-13 mark, a GAC Blue co-title as well as district and regional championships. Krupp tagged 60 hits while driving in 49 runs. She had 10 doubles, 11 triples and five home runs. Krupp scored 52 runs and maintained an on-base percentage of .583.
Root, a junior outfielder, batted .454 with 54 hits. She scored 58 runs with 10 doubles, five triples and five homers.
Putnam, a junior outfielder, delivered a .418 batting average in 2008.
Putnam had 51 hits, 55 runs-batted-in, seven doubles, 11 triples and nine home runs. Putnam scored 42 runs.
Laingsburg captured the Central Michigan Athletic Conference softball championship and finished the 2008 campaign 26-10 overall under Jeff Cheadle.
