OXFORD - The Durand wrestling team posted a 3-2 record at the Oxford Team Tournament Tuesday.
Host Oxford won the event after going a perfect 5-0, including a 58-19 decision over the Railroaders.
Durand (6-3) beat Armada (57-6), Novi (52-24) and Flint Powers (59-6) but lost to Imlay City (42-31) in addition to its loss against Oxford.
Four Durand individuals went 5-0, including Ethan Lindgren, who had to wrestle in the 145- and 152-pound divisions, a spot higher than usual. Joining Lindgren in the ranks of the undefeated were Roger Wildmo, Eric Telford and Wesley Hawkins.
Chris Wellman and Logan Dean both went 4-1.
“Oxford was a real good team but mainly we asked a lot out of our guys, bumping up in weight trying to fill in the weight classes going for the win,” said coach Alan Tyler. “We asked a lot of them for the team.”
