Men posed as cable company employees steal from elderly couple

ANTRIM TWP. - Local police are on the lookout for two suspects involved in a breaking and entering while posing as cable company Internet installers.
According to Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office Det. Lt. David Kirk, the two suspects approached a house of an elderly couple on Beard Road and told them they were there to install a high-speed Internet cable box.
One of the suspects asked the couple to go to the back of their home to show them where they could install the cable box, while the other suspect entered the home and took items such as a small safe, cash and checks.
“There method is - under the guise of being cable repair workers - get the attention to a cable box or cable wire,” Kirk said. “And when they are doing that, the additional party will enter the residence, get things quickly and is back out in a short period of time.”
The suspects are said to both be between 5'10 and 6-feet in height with short-cut hair and “scruffy beards.” Their vehicle is described as dark a colored pickup truck with a toolbox or rack on the side. The vehicle also has some writing on the side.

1) Keep both the screen doors and nside doors locked and if you do see fit to answer a doorbell or knock at least you have one door locked while you ask to look at their credentials-keep your phone in hand when answering door with 911 all ready punched in waiting for only to hit the send button if need be.
2) Never open door for strangers and if you are expecting repairmen ask for credentials.
3) get a dog ( Many need good homes and they are great company and will protect you and your property)
