Arts Center auctions Hoddy items for education fund

OWOSSO - Former industrialist and long-time community booster George Hoddy donated and then watched as dozens of items he owned were auctioned off Thursday night to benefit the Shiawassee Arts Center's education fund.
The sale, at the Gould House on North Washington Street, saw dozens of people attend for a glimpse at Hoddy's collection of furniture and antiques and a chance to take something home.
Piper Brewer, Arts Center executive director, said more than half the items sold Thursday. She did not know exactly how much money was raised for the fund.
