OWOSSO — Businesses in the city hoping to sell alcohol between the hours of 7 a.m. and noon on Sundays might have to wait longer than anticipated to land licenses permitting the morning sales.

Owosso City Council approved a resolution Monday that requests the Michigan Liquor Control Commission not issue any licenses in the city of Owosso for Sunday sales between 7 a.m. and noon for 90 days beginning Dec. 16, according to the resolution.

I am glad to see the time be moved further ahead. If you drink and want that drink for Sunday earlier than the new time then get your liquor or beer the night before. I would honestly feel Sunday liquor and beer sales be taken away for Sundays. We need to have one day of soberness for peets sake!!! Maybe this can lessen the domestic violences this city has to deal with when most of them take place when one or both parties are drunk. This is only my opinion and I take full part in sharing my opinion!!!!

This is ridiculous! When I was working 2nd and 3rd shifts, I wanted a BEER after work, just like those that work 9-5 at the banks! Likewise, since I don't go to church and know many in the same position, I don't feel that I should be restricted to the "Blue Laws" of the proselytizers! I am an adult, 61 years old and have occasional coctails and feel that I should be able to decide for myself WHEN I want to buy it! Get off my shoulder, wannabe consciences!
