Bowers announces candidate information for county board

BURNS TWP. — Bill E. Bowers of Burns Township has thrown his hat in the ring on the Democratic ticket to become the new County Commissioner in the fifth district, representing Antrim, Burns, Shiawassee, and a portion of Caledonia townships.

Bowers has lived in Burns Township for 35 years and all his life in Shiawassee County, except for a little more than nine years of service in the Navy. He has been married for 43 years to his wife Judy K., has two sons and six grandchildern.

Consumers Energy workers are seen installing an excavation support system Monday. A company spokesman Monday said workers are one week into a four-week gas main replacement project that has traffic limited to one lane near the corner of M-21 and Gould Street at the Owosso city limit. According to Consumers Energy Public Information Director Terry DeDoes, the company is replacing approximately 1,200 feet of gas main from Jerome Street south of M-21 to Mason Street north of M-21.
