More than just a Lions fan

OWOSSO — When the Detroit Lions got off to their first 5-0 start since 1956 this fall, it was a great time to be a fan.

And even though Detroit has suffered back-to-back losses to San Francisco and Atlanta entering today’s contest at Denver, Owosso’s Brian Brooks believes it’s still a fantastic time to be a Lions fan.

FIRE DAMAGES VACANT HOME

The Venice Township Fire Department was called to the scene of a fire at this vacant home on Maplewood Drive near Brooks Road at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. Initial reports were that flames were showing, but crews had the fire under control quickly, and cleared the scene by about 3:30 p.m. The back portion of the garage was destroyed. Chief Bill Baker said the fire is still under investigation, but the cause does not appear suspicious.
