Morrice considering a switch to 8-man football

Posted: Friday, November 22, 2013 10:45 am

MORRICE — A public forum on the pros and cons of Morrice High School’s football program moving from 11-man football to an 8-man format held Thursday in the high school cafeteria drew about 40 people.

Morrice Junior/Senior High School Principal and Superintendent William Heath — who said a vote by the Morrice Board of Education Dec. 11 on his recommendation will determine which way Morrice will ultimately go — delivered a “power points” presentation using a projection screen on the pros and cons of both 11- and 8-man football.

Another Reason to combine Perry & Morrice. To Many BIG Egos all around the schools and communities to accomplish 2 school Districts that are only 2 miles apart to combine for the good of the kids and that makes financial sense.. (The 2 closet Schools Districts in the state of Michigan I Might add) Oh well... these two districts will continue to struggle in sports and financially because of the Stubborn Pride and Egos in these two communities not willing to combine the TAX base into 1 district and 1 location. Baker College and Lansing Community College is chomping at the bit to by the current Morrice school facilities if they would combine at Perry. Perry High and Middles Schools have more than enough room to hold the current Morrice Students. With all the resources in the Field of Dreams project, Morrice will not budge and combine with Perry now unless the State Steps in.
