Overcoming obstacles

NEW LOTHROP — New Lothrop boys track coach Larry Bulemore wasn’t sure if sophomore Amari Coleman would be able to run for him this spring when he suffered a broken leg during the school’s football playoff run.

Coleman pulled through and delivered a stellar season for the Hornets, earning himself the 2012 Argus-Press Male Track and Field Athlete of the Year Award.

New Lothrop senior basketball player Ally Sovis, center, signed her letter of intent to play this winter at Concordia University in Ann Arbor. Sovis was a second team Argus-Press All-Area selection this past season, averaging 9.8 points, 2.8 steals, 2.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds. She was a two-time All-Area player, making the honorable mention list in 2015.
