PERRY — The Perry seventh- and eighth-grade, and high school symphonic bands all received 1st division ratings during the the MSBOA District V Band & Orchestra Festival March 8-9 at Perry High School.

Participating in the festival for the first time, the seventh-grade band performed “The Band in the Square” by LaPlante, “Enchanted Island” by Rouse, and “Waterdrops Come Spring” by Saucedo.

The Perry eighth-grade band played “The Washington Post March” by Sousa, “Chant, Chorale and Dance” by Calhoun, and “Star Bright” by Sheldon.

The Perry High School symphonic band performed “The Liberty Bell” by Sousa, “Illumination” by Maslanka, and “Unquiet Hours” by Biedenbender.

The bands close out the school year with their spring concerts featuring the eighth-grade and high school bands May 21 and the fifth-, sixth- and seventh-grade bands May 30. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. in Perry High School’s Jacklyn Hurd Auditorium and are free.
