OWOSSO — Every year in America, 60,000 families will receive the diagnosis that their son or daughter has an autism spectrum disorder.

The community is invited to hear speaker Ron Sandison at 6 p.m. March 31 at the Owosso First United Methodist Church, 1500 N. Water St. Sandison, diagnosed at an early age with autism, is the author of “A Parent’s Guide to Autism: Practical Advice. Biblical Wisdom.”

He offers a blend of storytelling, encouragement, and perspective for parents, teachers, autism nonprofits, and advocacy organizations.

Sandison earned bachelor degrees in practical ministry and psychology, and a master of divinity degree from Oral Roberts University.

There he received the ORU Overcomer’s Award for conquering a learning disability and autism.

One in every 68 children will be diagnosed with autism.

More children will be diagnosed with autism than with AIDS, diabetes and cancer combined.
