CORUNNA — The Corunna branch of the Community District Library will host a 2019 Corunna sesquicentennial event at 6 p.m. June 25.

Participants will learn about the history of kit and catalog homes with 1926 Sears kit home owners Andrew and Wendy Mutch.

Starting in 1906, dreams of home ownership for thousands of Americans began on the pages of a mail-order catalog. Kit houses ordered from Sears Roebuck, Montgomery Ward, Aladdin and others arrived on a boxcar and contained up to to 30,000 pieces.

Attendees will learn how to identify kit homes, see a variety of vintage catalogs and promotional materials and go on a photographic tour of kit houses of all sizes and styles found in Michigan and throughout the United States.

Pre-registration is encouraged to ensure enough seating. Call (989) 743-4800 to reserve a seat.
