OWOSSO — An unidentified student at Owosso High School apparently threatened to harm himself Thursday at the school.

Police and medical personnel were called to the building and the student was transported.

“A 16-year-old student was having some problems and was escorted from the school,” Owosso Public Safety Director Kevin Lenkart said.

Superintendent Andrea Tuttle sent a message via phone to parents Thursday afternoon stating a student required medical assistance at the school.

“At no time was there a threat to any other student or staff in the building,” the message said.

Tuttle noted there were a number of rumors circulating about the incident.
