EAST LANSING — From March 6-8, Corunna students took part in the annual Michigan FFA State Convention at Michigan State University.
Eleven Corunna members were in attendance: five were delegates who toured the state capitol and were a part of voting for next year’s state officer team: Garret Andrejack, Lexi Bukovick, Lily Kadlec, Haylee Schneider and Amara Jackson.
Three members participated in the state FFA band and performed on the Wharton stage all three days: Drew Nickels, Breann Barker and Abby Bannister.
Two members competed in the state level leadership contests: Jessica Belen participated in the job interview contest and earned a silver award and 9th in the state; Faith Butcher participated in Extemporaneous Public Speaking and earned a gold award and fourth in the state.
The Corunna FFA received a state level gold award.
Attendees included Academic Excellence Award winner Cameron Campbell, Outstanding Junior Award winners Lexi Bukovick, Garret Andrejack, Breann Barker, Abby Bannister, Jake Conklin and Elizabeth White; and state FFA degree recipients Joseph Lloyd, Briggs Stickel amd Jessica Belen.
Benjamin Butcher served as the Michigan FFA state treasurer for the 2018-19 year.
Avianna Jackson was elected by the state delegates to serve as the 2019-20 Michigan FFA state vice president.
