Fingerprint techniques taught in RESD program

Students, from left, are Baylee Huff, from Durand High School; Connor Spencer, from Owosso High School; and Dylan Hunt, from Perry High School.

OWOSSO — The Shiawassee Regional Education Service District’s Career and Technical Education Criminal Justice I students learned finger-printing techniques recently.

As part of crime scene investigation, students were given items to dust for latent prints, using black powder and brushes. Students took inked fingerprint impressions of each other and put them in a pile, then tried to match the impressions against the lifts.

The program took place in partnership with Baker College of Owosso.
