MIDDLEBURY TWP. — An Ovid-Elsie Area Schools bus blew a turbocharger this morning, which created a large cloud of black smoke and led a passerby calling 911 to report a bus on fire.
No children were on the bus when the incident happened about 7:30 a.m.
According to a district official at the transportation department, when the driver noticed the bus was running poorly he stopped and transferred students to a different bus. When he attempted to move the bus from M-21 to a side road the turbocharger blew and the bus started to burn oil and produce a thick cloud of black smoke.
No one was injured.
