The Chesaning High School cross country and track and field teams recently received a grant from the Brooks Running Company totaling $14,500. The Brooks Booster Club, a needs-based grant program, provides performance running footwear and apparel, as well as funding to under-resourced high school cross country and track teams across the country. Only 25 schools receive the grant in the United States. Chesaning received $12,500 for equipment and $2,000 to help with expenses. Chesaning was one of three schools in Michigan to receive the grant. Chesaning was nominated by Drew Windle, a silver medalist in the 800-meter run at the world championship. According to Chesaning officials, Windle and former Chesaning runner Chantelle Fondren are a couple. She told him about Chesaning cross country and track.
