Owosso Middle School Builders Club, a Kiwanis-sponsored leadership organization, recently completed a two-week long International Women’s Day service-learning experience. Club members encouraged Owosso staff and students to wear purple or “Empower” shirts, provided everyone with purple Women’s Day stickers, and started a school-wide donation drive in support of SafeCenter. Club members also developed a video focused on appreciation for positive female role models in their lives. Service learning initiatives culminated with an investigation into SafeCenter’s community role and donations for their housing facilities that included bedding sets, washclothes, paper towel, cleaning supplies, and laundry needs.
