DURAND — It’s once again time for the Durand Railroad Days Princess contest, sponsored by the Durand Lioness Club.

There are four contestants. Each has secured a sponsor in the Durand area where they are placing a canister to collect votes. Each cent collected equals one vote. The Durand Lioness Club will put the money collected from the contest back into the community.

The winner will be introduced March 23 in the Grand Ballroom of the Durand Union Station. The 2018 Railroad Days Princess will be a part of the royalty for the 2018 Durand Railroad Days celebration to be held the weekend after Mother’s Day. She will represent Durand Railroad Days as well as the Durand Lioness Club.

Candidates this year include:

Gwendolyn Bell is 10 and attends Robert Kerr Elementary School in Durand. She is the daughter of Adam and Christine Bell of Durand. Her sponsor is Changes Barber Shop in Durand.

Isabelle Sumner is 9 and attends New Lothrop Elementary School. She is the daughter of Alissa and Clint Sumner of Durand. Ed’s Standard in Durand is sponsoring her.

Kadence Tanner attends Robert Kerr Elementary School and is 9. She is the daughter of Holly Newton and Adam Tanner of Durand. She is sponsored by Fringe Salon in Lennon.

Na’Kia Tate is the 7-year-old daughter of Markell and Melissa Tate of Durand. She attends Robert Kerr Elementary School and is sponsored by Little Caesars Pizza in Durand.
