VERNON TWP. — A 33-year-old Flint woman was killed in a two-car crash on I-69 Wednesday night.

According to a press release from the Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office, the 33-year-old driver was traveling east on I-69 near Durand Road about 10:30 p.m. when her vehicle was struck from behind, causing her vehicle to overturn several times.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 28-year-old from Indiana, allegedly was driving at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.

According to the sheriff's office, the Indiana driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of operating under the influence of drugs.

The Michigan State Police, Vernon Township Fire Department, Perry area Fire and Rescue and Mobile Medical Response assisted Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office at the scene of the crash.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
