United Way donates to Youth Advisory Council

The United Way of Genesee County, serving Genesee and Shiawassee Counties, recently made a donation of $1,000 to the Shiawassee Youth Advisory Council (YAC). The YAC is a youth organization through the Shiawassee Community Foundation. The students involved give back through grant-making and volunteering. The grant from United Way will allow YAC to give money to a nonprofit, school, municipality or other government entity that serves a charitable purpose involving youth. Emily Marrah, relationship specialist with United Way of Genesee County, presented the check to members of the Shiawassee YAC Executive Board. From left are Grace Knickerbocker, YAC secretary; Elizabeth Tolrud, YAC president; Kyle Taft, YAC treasurer; and Marrah.
