Vacant Rush Township home burns

Firefighters reported to a home in Rush Township this morning to find it engulfed in flames. Owosso Township Fire Chief Dave Johnson said firefighters received the call at about 5:38 a.m. from a passing motorist on nearby Delaney Road. However, the home, which Johnson said has been vacant for quite some time, was likely by then a total loss. A stiff west wind and cold temperatures did not deter the firefighters, which included several neighboring departments, such as Owosso, Corunna-Caledonia, and Ovid-Middlebury. They were nearly finished with putting out the fire by 9 a.m. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze. Meanwhile, administrators are attempting to make contact with the homeowners. No injuries to fire crews were reported.
