SAGINAW COUNTY — On Sunday, Saginaw County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 14800 block of South Chapin Road, in Chapin Township after human remains were discovered.

The owner of the property told police he was checking on a trail camera when he followed a deer through wooded area. He came across a boot along the deer path and observed what appeared to be human remains, at which point he called 911.

Deputies and detectives on scene found remains that appear to have been at the location for a long period of time. The Michigan State Police Crime Lab was called in for assistance.

The investigation is still ongoing. The remains have not been identified.
