SHIAWASSEE TWP. — An Owosso man died late Saturday night after apparently being ejected from his vehicle in a single-vehicle crash on westbound I-69 and then being struck by other drivers.
Kyler Raffaelli, 23, of Owosso, died following a one-vehicle crash near State Road. Shiawassee Township Fire department and Perry Area Rescue were called to the scene about 11:10 p.m. Saturday.
According to the Michigan State Police, Raffaelli was westbound in a 2007 Pontiac G6 when he veered off the road and struck the barrier cables in the median.
The impact caused his vehicle to flip and he was ejected into the eastbound lanes of traffic where he was struck by several vehicles.
He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and authorities believe alcohol was a contributing factor. There were no other injuries as a result of the crash and no citations were issued.
The Laingsburg fire department and Corunna-Caledonia Fire Department were called to assist with traffic control at the Woodbury and Grand River road exits. Traffic in both directions was rerouted onto Lansing Road for several hours.
A notice regarding funeral arrangements appears on Page 2.
