New Lothrop students set to celebrate homecoming

NEW LOTHROP — New Lothrop Area Public Schools’ homecoming week begins Monday. This year’s theme is Fast Food Frenzy.

Spirit week begins with the first dress-up day — Domino’s Day/American Pride Day. Students are encouraged to wear red, white and blue attire.

On Tuesday, students can wear their favorite country or Western wear as part of Taco Bell Day.

Students can wear their class shirts Wednesday, which is Battle of the Fast Food Giants Day.

Thursday is Tropical Smoothie Day, during which students can wear their favorite school-appropriate beach attire.

Friday is Black and White Day; students can show off their Hornet pride with New Lothrop gear.

The powder puff game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a junior high tug-o-war during halftime.

A high school pep assembly, including the crowning of the homecoming king, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 15 in the high school gym.

A homecoming parade is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15. Parade participants need to arrive by 4:45 p.m.

The varsity football game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 15. The Hornets will play Burton Bentley, with the crowning of the homecoming queen at halftime.

Homecoming week festivities will conclude Sept. 16, with a semi-formal dance at 8 p.m.

This year’s parade grand marshals are Braden “Buddy” Miller and his family. In their honor, the students have decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from this year’s powder puff game to DIPG awareness and support.
