Age 84, of Bancroft, passed away March 24, 2019.

A committal service took place Friday, May 24, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.

John was born in Flint July 4, 1934. He joined the Army in 1953 and served in the Korean War. On Jan. 31, 1959, he married Judy Wagner in Grand Rapids.

John was a commercial painter by trade, but could fix or build anything. He loved music and once played guitar with Chet Atkins.

He loved his family and talked often of their achievements. He liked sports, cooking and National Geographic, but his favorites were kids and dogs. He traveled in many circles over the years and had many lifetime friends.

John is survived by his sons John (Opy), Joseph and Jeffery of Owosso; sister Eunice and brother Jim of Clio; best friend Susie of Bancroft; and many family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Judy, daughter Janice Miller, several brothers and sisters, and his parents and in-laws.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to local Veterans organizations or the Humane society. The family would like to thank Covenant SICU for all of their great care and compassion during John’s time there.
