Age 88, of Perry, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, St. Lawrence Campus in Lansing. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 214 S. Main St. in Perry, with military honors immediately following.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the funeral home. Internment is scheduled in the Washington Township Cemetery near Carsonville at 3:30 p.m.

John Henry McLennan was born Feb. 5, 1931, in Carsonville, the son of George and Esther (Erbe) McLennan.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War era. On May 17, 1952, he married the love of his life, Catherine (Katie Schumaker) in Mount Clemens.

During retirement John and Katie enjoyed traveling together in their RV, visiting the southern and western areas of the United States. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before her death in 2003

He worked for Ford Motor Company for 34 years, but his lifelong passion was farming. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his children Douglas (Barbara) McLennan, Christine McLennan and Pamela (Ray) Howse; grandchildren Danielle McLennan, Steven McLennan, Emily Howse and Sarah Howse; sister Jannett Conant; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and special friends.
