Age 82, of Dimondale, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Smith Family Funeral Homes in Elsie with the Rev. Ava Williams officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Elsie.

Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the funeral home prior to the service.

Cleon was born in St. Johns Feb. 12, 1937, the son of Paul Charles and Dortha E. (Harris) Platner. Cleon resided most of his life in Elsie and Dimondale.

Cleon was a graduate of Elsie High School, class of 1954, and attended Michigan State University. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed in Guam for two years. Cleon retired from Farm Bureau and worked at the creamery in Elsie and Ovid. He traveled to Austria, New York and Washington, D.C. Cleon was very heavy into photography and enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing golf.

He is survived by his brother Duane and Sue Platner of Elsie; sister Reta Gillson of Battle Creek; and four nieces and nephews. Cleon was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Platner in 2003 and Dortha Platner in 2014.
