Age 72, died Friday, April 12, 2019.

He was born June 3, 1946, in Lansing, the son of Paul and Florence (Bigelow) Bauer.

Doug earned his master’s degree in education from Michigan State University and was a teacher at Elsa Meyer in Corunna for 32 years. He was honored as Teacher of the Year for 1988-89. He retired in June 2001.

He was a member of the Michigan Education Association and was an avid MSU Spartans sports fan.

Doug also served as a page for the Michigan House of Representatives.

Doug is survived by brothers Barry (Betty) Bauer of St. Johns, Jerry (Jane) Benjamin of Owosso and Jeff Benjamin of North Carolina; sisters Elsye (Dick) Fogle of Holt and Jacqulyn Gerhold Dickinson of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, his biological parents and his adoptive parents.

A memorial celebration is planned for Doug from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the Owosso Charter Township Hall, 410 S. Delaney Road.
