James Theodore Yaklin

Age 80, of New Lothrop, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso with the Rev. Bob Byrne officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in New Lothrop.

The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 2.

James was born May 13, 1939, to Theodore J. and Ellen (Flynn) Yaklin in Owosso. He graduated from St. Michael High School in 1957. He married Joan F. Pochyly Nov. 5, 1960, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove; they celebrated 58 years of marriage.

James was a lifelong farmer, and he worked as a forklift operator at Buick-GM for 37 years before retiring. He was a member of the New Lothrop Lions Club, ZCBJ 242, and CSA Lodge 411. He was also an international UAW representative and a substitute mailman in New Lothrop.

James is survived by his loving wife, Joan Yaklin; son James J. (Denise) Yaklin; grandchildren Alex (Laura), Victoria and Grace Yaklin; and siblings Mary Ellen Wendling, Tom (Andrea) Yaklin, Elaine (Ron) Krupp and Michael Yaklin.

He is predeceased by his parents and sister Rosemary.
