Age 75, of Morrice, passed away after his battle with dementia at his home Saturday July 6, 2019.

John was born Feb. 2, 1944 in Freeborn, Kentucky. He graduated from Perry High School in 1966. He worked at GM for 40 years before retiring.

He was a devoted father and grandfather who would have done anything for his family. He loved deeper than most. He was a hard worker that worked 40 plus hours a week. He also loved his “toys” such as his quads, boats, campers, snowmobiles but his most favorite hobby was his model trains and riding his pedal bike every year in the Demiac. He was also a very religious man who was always an active member in his church.

There will be a viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Perry for all friends and family.

John was predeceased by both his parents, Harrison and Charlene Dempsey.

John is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Dempsey, to whom he has been married 56 years. He is also survived by his children John B. (Tanya) Dempsey, Jr of Warren and Lori Dempsey of Morrice; grandchildren Jaymee (Gregg) Huffman of Morrice, Jessica (Jeff) Tobias of Perry, Jennifer (Chris) Wilder and John B. of Perry; great-grandchildren Owen, Logan, Brooklyn, Gemma, Natalie, Audrey, Gabe and Michael; brother Charles “Jerry” Dempsey and nephew Troy Dempsey; many other family members who loved him deeply.

Memorials are suggested to American Parkinson’s Association or to the family for expenses. Online condolences may be sent to the family by going to watkinsfuneralhomes.com.
