Stronghold to perform

CORUNNA — Corunna Church of the Nazarene pastor Doug Corwin invites area gospel music lovers to a Stronghold Quartet concert at 5 p.m. June 30 at the church,230 N. Woodworth St.

Since the group’s formation in 2005, Stronghold has performed at numerous Owosso-area churches. The group now claims the Howell/ Fowlerville area as “home.”

Tenor Don Byers and his brother lead singer Dennis Byers attended the Corunna church as children. The group also includes baritone Jim Kitchen and bass singer Bill Neathamer. Ben Kitchen and Owosso native Dan Dodd are the group’s sound technicians.

Stronghold released its seventh CD project, “Freedom,” in April. Like earlier CDs, “Freedom” includes both classic Southern gospel songs and popular contemporary gospel songs such as “Chain Breaker” and “Somebody’s Miracle.”

The group is also looking forward to singing the national anthem and “God Bless America” for the July 5 Lansing Lugnuts game.

Stronghold will conclude the summer Amphitheater SUMMERPraise! season Aug. 11. The series starts July 7 and will include Three Bridges, The Nelons, Justified, Rob Mills and The Sound, and a final Owosso appearance of The Calvarymen.
