LAINGSBURG — Gabe Hawes scored 18 points and Zach Hawes had 13 as the Laingsburg beat Middleton Fulton 61-32 Wednesday.

The Railroaders (2-1) got 12 points and three assists from Devyne Hazelwood and nine points from Chandler Cleveland. Evan Egan had seven points and joined Kyle Winslow with seven rebounds.

“They won 17 games last season and they were district champions,” Durand coach Dave Inman said. “The Boers kid is 6-foot-9 with a wingspan of over 7-0. He blocked a lot of shots tonight and he alters a lot of shots. The kid is a guard. Our whole game plan was to stop him and make everyone else score. In the first quarter he didn’t score a single point.”

Chesaning 56, St. Charles 50

ST. CHARLES — Jacob Turnwald scored 17 points with five assists as Chesaning defeated St. Charles 56-50 Wednesday.

Jarrett Kelley had 11 for the Indians (2-1), while Imari Hall had eight points and five rebounds. Cole Higley scored nine points before leaving in the third quarter with an injury.

St. Charles drained nine 3-pointers, including six in the first half, but fell to 1-2.

“I’m very proud of the effort tonight by our guys,” Chesaning coach Matt Weigl said. “We came into this one a little banged up and with (Higley) going down in the third we really needed some guys to step up. We had a great week of practice, all 10 guys worked extremely hard and it paid off.”
