Four area players were named first-team All-State in Division 3 this week by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association.

Byron’s Greta L’Esperance, Laingsburg’s Kara Mahoney, and Chesaning’s Taylor Gross and Erica Barta all were first-team selections.

It was the second straight first-team selection for the Bowling Green-bound L’Esperance and third overall — she was an honorable mention in 2017. Barta also made first team for the second straight season.

Making the honorable mention squad in Division 3 were Charleigh Birchmeier (New Lothrop), Lauren Viele (Byron), and Elizabeth Coon and Skylar Walser from Chesaning.

Viele was a first-teamer last spring.

Morrice third baseman Jessica Eva was a first-teamer in Division 4, her third straight selection. Eva was first team pick in 2017 and an honorable mention in 2018.
