CHESANING — Chesaning was no-hit through 4 2/3 innings as Saginaw Valley Lutheran pushed across a run in the bottom of the fourth on a hit-batter.

That’s when the thunderstorm hit and Valley Lutheran captured a 1-0 victory in a rain-shortened district semifinal.

“It was a tough way to lose,” Chesaning coach Robert Sager said. “With two out and an 0-2, they had a single, a walk, a ground ball to short and were safe on a fielder’s choice. Then they scored their run on a hit-batter.”

Michael James took the loss for Chesaning. He gave up three hits while striking out five and walking one.

Chesaning finished 18-15 and shared the Mid-Michigan Activities Conference title.

Corunna, ending the season at 12-23, featured Blake Galasek’s 3-for-4 swinging.

Caleb Stahr took the loss for the Cavaliers. He worked 2 2/3 innings and surrendered six earned runs and six hits. He struck out three and walked one.
