Taylor Jackson continues to have a strong season for the Kalamazoo College football team.

Jackson started at linebacker, recording five tackles and an interception in Kalamazoo’s 31-30 victory Saturday over Adrian College.

Jackson’s interception came with 7:59 remaining in the third quarter, when he picked off Jack Wurzer at his own 46-yard line and returned it to the Adrian 30. The pick set up Greg Kearn’s 40-yard field goal that tied the game at 24.

The Corunna alum is fourth on the Hornets in tackles with 23 on the season. He’s also recovered two fumbles.

FOOTBALL

Spencer Mort, Olivet College (Corunna) — The junior wide receiver recorded his first career catch Saturday, hauling in a 5-yard pass in the second quarter of Olivet’s 72-7 win over Finlandia.

Jack Lawrence (Byron) and Chris Luckhurst (Ovid-Elsie), Alma College — Two regulars in the Scots’ lineup, Luckhurst and Lawrence were both listed as non-participants in Alma’s 37-34 overtime loss Saturday to Albion.

Gavin Barnes, Saginaw Valley State (Owosso) — Barnes was listed as having played in SVSU’s 10-0 win Saturday over Michigan Tech.

Quentin Taylor, Wayne State (New Lothrop) — Taylor was listed among the participants Saturday in a 27-13 loss to Tiffin.

VOLLEYBALL

Autumn Severn, Grand Rapids Community College (New Lothrop) — Severn continued to rack up assists, tallying at least 20 in five matchups over the past week. She had 37 assists with seven digs Sept. 27 against Glen Oaks. Severn then had 39 assists and 12 digs Tuesday against Muskegon.

Meredith Norris, Michigan State (Corunna) — Norris had eight kills and six digs with four blocks in a win Saturday against Rutgers.

Erin Cooper, Maya Ferland, Silvia Strieff, Sophie Strieff (Laingsburg) and Alayna Mantei (New Lothrop), Lansing Community College — Sophia Strieff had 10 kills and five digs to lead LCC past Mott in four games Saturday. Ferland added seven kills and six digs. Cooper had 14 digs, while Mantei and Silvia Streiff chipped in 10 and 11, respectively. Sophia Streiff had nine kills and 10 digs later in the day in a 3-2 win over Oakland CC. Ferland led all scorers with 17 kills.

On Sunday, Sophia Streiff had 12 total kills in a wins over Macomb CC and Alpena CC. Cooper had 28 digs between the two matches.

Caitlyn Kane, Lake Superior State (Laingsburg) — Kane had seven total kills in a pair of wins Friday and Saturday over Purdue Northwest and Wisconsin-Parkside.

MEN’S GOLF

Jagger Richard (Laingsburg) and Brandt Nelson (Byron), Northwood University — Richard tied for fourth overall, shooting a two-round total of 142 (66-76) at the Hawkshead Invitational at Hawkshead Links in South Haven. Nelson tied for 37th with 155 (75-80).

WOMEN’S GOLF

Lindsay Waller, Gettysburg College (Perry) — Waller shot 129 to tie for 13th at the Gettysburg Tri-Match Sunday.

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

Zach Adkins, Cleary University (Durand) — Adkins was the top runner for the Cougars at the Louisville Classic Friday, finishing 81st in 28 minutes, 4 seconds.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

Dovie Jones, Cleary University (Durand) — Jones was 323rd (10:33.6) at Louisville.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Sophie Wilsey, Oakland University (Laingsburg) — Wilsey played against both Detroit Mercy and Green Bay last week, drawing a start in the latter contest. She played all 110 minutes in the 0-0 draw.

Bonnie Emmerling, Cleary University (Durand) — Emmerling started on defense for the Cougars in a 1-1 draw Saturday with University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Brittany Tillman, Buena Vista University (Durand) — Tillman played as a reserve in a 2-0 loss Saturday to Luther.

Chelsie Smith, Olivet College (Laingsburg/St. Johns HS) — Smith started and had two shots in a 1-0 win over St. Mary’s (Indiana) Tuesday.

MEN’S SOCCER

Tyler Deese, Adrian College (Corunna) — Deese played as a reserve in a 2-0 loss Sept. 26 to Ohio Northern.
