CORUNNA — After losing 22 of its first 23 games, the Corunna softball team is on a roll.

The Cavaliers swept Birch Run 13-1 and 23-11 Wednesday, giving them their first sweep of the season and three wins in their last four games.

JaiLia Campos won both games for Corunna (4-23), throwing a two-hitter in the opener and winning the second game in relief. She also was 4-for-7 at the plate on the day.

Hannah Hollister was 7-for-8 with five RBIs, smacking a double and a triple in the second game. Danielle French was 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and eight runs batted in during the nightcap, which the Cavaliers salted away with 10 runs in the top of the fifth. French had 11 total RBIs.

Owosso tops Swartz Creek twice

OWOSSO — Macy Irelan allowed only one earned run in a pair of 9-2 victories Wednesday for Owosso over Swartz Creek.

She allowed five hits in the opener, striking out six, then held the Dragons to two hits in the nightcap while striking out 13.

Reyn Tuttle went 3-for-6 in the doubleheader, belting a double in the first game and a homer in the second. She also drove in four runs. Madyson Rainey was 3-for-4 in the opener and drove two runs.

The Trojans improved to 24-7 overall, 12-2 in the Flint Metro League.

Morrice doubles up Atherton

BURTON — Morrice swept Burton Atherton 15-1 and 15-3 while totaling 30 hits Wednesday.

The Orioles improved to 12-5 overall and 8-2 in the Genesee Area Conference Blue Division.

In Game 1, Mallory Munro pitched a one-hitter over five innings with four strikeouts and four walks.

Jessica Eva batted 4-for-4 with two inside-the-park homers and two triples for Morrice. Kylee Kiczenski had two triples and three RBIs. Caitlyn Wood drove in four runs and joined Kylee Kiczenski, Mandy Miller and Jenna O’Berry with two hits.

Morrice totaled five doubles in the game.

In Game 2, Morrice outhit Atherton 13-1. Olivia Riley struck out four and walked six in three innings of work.

Wood drove in four runs with three hits. O’Berry drove in three runs and also had three hits. Kiczenski had two hits with a double and two RBIs.

Perry outlasts Maple Valley

PERRY — A nine-run third inning proved the difference for Perry in its 12-7 Greater Lansing Athletic Conference win Wednesday over Maple Valley.

The Ramblers trailed 4-1 before scoring nine times in the third and added two more in the fifth.

Kaylee Konecny led the Perry offense, going 3-for-4 while scoring three times and driving in two runs. Grace Knickerbocker was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Ramblers.

Megan Demerly got the win, pitching the first four innings and striking out six for Perry (6-14 overall, 4-10 GLAC).

Chesaning wins in eighth on Drope’s double

FLINT — Haylei Drope had a two-run double in the top of the eighth to break a 3-3 tie and Chesaning closed the regular season by beating Flint Powers 5-3 Tuesday.

The win lifted Chesaning to 24-3 overall.

Julia Bishop batted 4-for-4 in the game with two doubles for Chesaning. Taylor Gross earned the pitching win, going all eight innings and giving up three runs on nine hits. The right-hander struck out seven and walked one.

In Game 1, Powers won 4-3 in another tight one that went down to the wire.

Jordyn Bishop had three hits and Julia Bishop added two hits. Lilly Cooper drove in two runs for the Indians and Elizabeth Coon doubled.

Gross took the loss despite striking out 11.
