OWOSSO — The ninth annual Curwood Youth Fishing Derby took place June 9 on the banks of the Shiawassee River along Jerome Street.

Liam Ariss, 9, took home the top prize of Master Angler with a 3.15-pound sucker. Liam won a tackle box, a bag of tackle and a gift certificate in addition to a trophy. He also won a rod and reel for coming in first in his class. Carter, 5, and Cooper Collard, 7, won a the family prize of a tent and yard games.

Here are the results from the derby:

Class A (5-7 years old): 1. Jayson Moore, 6; 2. Arlen McCorkle, 5; 3. Addyson Klockziem, 6.

Class B (8-10 years old):  1. Liam Arris, 9; 2. Hunter Cleveland, 8; 3. Taryn Witt, 8.

Class C (11-15 years old): 1. Alex Tidwell, 15; 2. Gavin Holmes; 3. Jacob Porter, 13
