BYRON — Byron got ready for Saturday’s Division 3 regional softball tournament with a 1-0 victory Wednesday over Fowlerville.

The Eagles scored the lone run of the contest in the bottom of the sixth. Delaney Hamilton singled and scored on a two-out double by Katie Tennyson.

Lauren Viele was the winning pitcher. The Byron ace struck out 10 and walked two while permitting three hits over seven innings.

Greta L’Esperance and Tennyson each batted 2-for-3 for the Eagles with a double. Olivia Svoboda doubled.

Fowlerville’s Arin Szumlinski batted 2-for-3. Carlie Atcheson took the loss in relief for the Gladiators (19-13).

Byron (21-12) plays Burton Bendle (17-5) at noon Saturday at Otisville LakeVille. The other regional semifinal pits No. 9 Chesaning against No. 1-ranked Millington at 10 a.m. The regional championship is at 2 p.m.
